Newspaper wall hangings help you to cover empty spaces on your walls in an economic and creative manner. You can personalise your home so that it expresses what you want it to.
You can make wall hangings from waste and hence they will not cost you anything other than your effort to create it! It is an innovative solution to decorate your house using scrap, or what others deem to be ‘waste.’
This article describes certain simple ways you can use to create your own wall hangings in the least time possible.

#1. Assembling Materials
Keep all the materials you need at one place -the material may include- a set of newspapers, scissors, paper cutter, a pencil, glue, and different colours as per your preference to decorate your wall hanging properly.
#2. Folding The Newspaper
Take the newspaper and lay it flat on an even surface. After this, just fold from one corner to another, to form an even rectangle with no stray papers poking out from anywhere. It is very important that the newspapers are folded from edge to edge for your wall hanging to look perfect.
#3. Cutting the Newspaper
Once the newspaper is in the shape of a uniform rectangle, take one side as the length of the rectangle, and use the paper cutter to cut along the length. The newspapers would be cut in a set, so separate them into single newspaper pages.

#4. Rolling Up The Newspaper
Use a pencil to roll up the newspaper. Start by placing the pencil at one of the corners, and keep it diagonal on the newspaper. Then, continue rolling up the paper using the pencil. It is perfectly alright if while rolling up, the newspaper is not perfectly even.
This is to be expected as you will be placing the pencil diagonally, and a uniform roll up in this scenario is next to impossible. So if you have managed to roll the newspaper in some semblance of a roll at the end of the exercise, consider the job well done.

When your roll up is tapering at one corner, use the glue to keep it in place by sticking the paper to the edge of the paper beneath it in the roll, so that the newspaper stays tightly wound around the pencil even when you let it go. Now, remove the pencil.
You will need to repeat this exercise with different newspaper pages, until you have created the number of rolls you will need for the wall hanging, to give you an approximation, maybe around 150.

#5. Roll The Paper Up Vertically
Earlier, we created cylindrical rolls by using the pencil to roll the paper diagonally. Now you have to use the pencil with the newspaper roll in a vertical position, and start folding. Just use the pencil as a base, which you can remove once the coil is thick enough to be without the base.
To be sure what you are doing is appropriate, note that at this stage, the length of your roll will reduce significantly, and the breadth will increase slightly.
You will reach a point where the first roll ends, so then apply glue to one side, and add another paper stick to extend the coil you are creating. Repeat this process to make different sized coils.
You will want one extra large, one large, one medium, one small, and one extra small, depending on the availability of paper with you.

#6. Make smaller coils
Once the five big coils are done, you will need to make smaller coils to put next to the bigger ones to increase the size as well as the creative aspect of your decoration.
You want to cover the entire circumference of the bigger coils with the smaller ones. So with the large coil, you will need a large number of small coils, and the number will keep on decreasing with a reduction in the size of the main coil.

#7. Create Unique Design
You need to create a hollow in the middle of each coil in the middle, by pushing at the centre of each of the four major coils. Now, repeat this with all the small coils as well.

#8. Ensure The Coils Created Will Last
Since it is a newspaper roll up, it will need some kind of adhesive to make it stick and last longer, so you will need to mix glue with water, and apply it to the portion which is now jutting out from the coils after you pushed at the centre to keep the shape of your hollowed out coils intact.

#9. Stick The Small Rolls To The Big Ones
Use glue on one side of the small coils, and stick it to the side of the bigger coils.
You need to stick these in such a manner that the small coils join the relatively bigger coils to one another, using the small coils as a bridge.
You can simply put small coils as the circumference of the big coils, in which case, between two big coils, you will have at least one small coil in common. You can also go about this by arranging the coils in an ‘S’ shape. This is up to you.

#10. Paint The Coils
Once you have joined the coils, you have an idea of what your basic design will look like. After that, just paint them in different and vibrant colours. If you want, you can decorate the center of each coil with beads or other artefacts to add to the decorative aspect.
